Energize Group is proud to share some further positive news from the Charity and Fundraising Network, as the company donated 12 laptops to Kampala Children’s Centre in Uganda with the help of our technology partner Notebook Repair.
Every device donated was professionally serviced by to ensure every laptop would reach East Africa in good condition and working order, refurbished and ready for use. The machines will now be used by children for education and recreation in Kampala, Uganda!
Over the last 17 years, Kampala Children's Centre has helped those in their care to become teachers, doctors, carpenters, lawyers, farmers, IT experts, and many other trades and professions. KCC was established in 2005 as a response to the wide-ranging crises throughout Uganda. Many communities live below the poverty line and educational programs are simply unaffordable. Employment opportunities are scarce and families cannot easily access basic medical care or schooling for their children. Conflict has left many towns and villages in ruins and entire communities have been displaced throughout the country. Meanwhile, countless lives have been lost to HIV/AIDS and as a result, many children have been left orphaned.
KKC supports 12 family homes, as well as medical facilities, educational institutions and recreational sites. Each family home houses 12 children, and provides the care of a 'house mother' and assistant to take care of the children. Education is extended at kindergarten, primary and secondary level and programs are further made available to surrounding communities.
All of us at Energize are hugely passionate about giving back to those less fortunate than ourselves, and we are committed to donating more technology supplies in the future to help those who need it most. Corporate Social Responsibility is a key focus for our Employee Charity Network and this activity aligns under our company Value of "Do The Right Thing" as part of our shared ethos, "The Energize Way'.
"On behalf of Kampala Children’s Centre, (K.C.C), I would like to thank you, Energize Group, for offering to donate laptops. We are very thankful to your company for considering to provide us with laptops to help our students with technical skills. Your donation of laptops is a welcome addition to the STEM Centre’s development, vital in equipping young people and children with critical ICT and computer engineering skills."
