Cloud Solution Architect (Azure / Microsoft 365)

About the Role

We are supporting a well-established retail organisation in Germany undergoing a significant IT transformation programme.

They are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect to join their IT Systems team and play a key role in shaping the evolution of modern cloud and workplace platforms across Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid environments.

This is a strategic and hands-on architecture role, combining solution design, platform ownership, and stakeholder collaboration across both local and international teams.

You will be instrumental in driving the transition from legacy on-premise systems to scalable, secure, and future-ready cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve end-to-end solution architectures across Azure and Microsoft 365
• Support the migration from on-premise infrastructure to cloud-based environments
• Ensure stability and continuous improvement of Azure, M365, and hybrid identity platforms (Entra ID)
• Define technical standards, architectural guidelines, and automation concepts
• Evaluate technical requirements with a focus on security, scalability, integration, and cost efficiency
• Support full lifecycle delivery from concept through implementation to operational handover
• Collaborate with internal IT teams, business stakeholders, and international counterparts
• Document technical architectures, designs, and decisions clearly and consistently
• Provide support for complex technical issues and escalations

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure, Microsoft 365)
• Proven experience in solution architecture or senior infrastructure/engineering roles
• Strong background in hybrid environments and legacy-to-cloud transformation projects
• Experience with Entra ID, endpoint management, MDM, and modern workplace technologies
• Ability to design and deliver full end-to-end technical solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and quickly understand complex IT landscapes
• Fluent German (mandatory)
• Good English skills (beneficial)

Nice to Have

• Experience with automation, cloud governance, or infrastructure-as-code
• Exposure to enterprise-scale or international IT environments
• Interest in modern workplace innovation and AI-driven technologies
