IT Security Engineer – Microsoft Security

Location: Bavaria, Germany (Hybrid)
Salary: €60,000–€80,000 + Bonus + Holiday & Christmas Pay

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve Microsoft security solutions across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Configure and optimise Microsoft Defender technologies, Microsoft Sentinel and other Microsoft security services.
• Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents and threats.
• Develop security standards, policies and technical controls to improve the organisation\'s security posture.
• Work closely with infrastructure, cloud and application teams to embed security into new solutions.
• Identify security risks and recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
• Support vulnerability management, threat detection and security monitoring activities.
• Evaluate new Microsoft security capabilities and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the security platform.
• Participate in security projects and technical initiatives across the wider IT organisation.

Required experience

• 3+ years\' experience within IT Security or Cyber Security.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft security technologies.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Defender XDR and the wider Microsoft Defender suite.
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or another enterprise SIEM platform.
• Experience with incident response, threat detection and security monitoring.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Azure security.
• Knowledge of hybrid identity and enterprise infrastructure security.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex security issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Fluent German (C1) and strong English communication skills.

This position would suit someone coming from a Microsoft-focused security engineering background with practical implementation experience across Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID and the wider Microsoft security stack.

Candidates should be comfortable discussing previous security implementations in detail and explaining the reasoning behind architectural and technical decisions.
