About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a robotics company developing advanced humanoid platforms to hire a Staff Robotics Architect – Electrical Hardware.
This role will shape the electrical architecture of new products and drive major improvements to existing platforms. You’ll connect sensing, compute, actuation, controls, power, and safety into reliable, scalable robotic systems—and help carry those decisions from early concept through verification and production.
Reporting to the Principal Hardware Architect, you’ll work across electrical, mechanical, software, perception, controls, systems, and safety engineering. This is an individual-contributor position with significant technical leadership responsibility and no direct reports.
What You’ll Do
-
Define and evolve electrical architectures for complex robotic platforms.
-
Lead early product definition, establish electrical requirements, and maintain technical direction throughout development.
-
Architect and integrate batteries, charging, power distribution, actuator electronics, sensing, compute, and control systems.
-
Guide PCBA research, design, prototyping, verification, and manufacturing.
-
Partner with firmware and controls engineers on motor control and network integration.
-
Use calculations, analysis, and test data to evaluate designs and resolve technical tradeoffs.
-
Lead investigations into electrical subsystem performance, reliability, and failures.
-
Develop and lead design verification testing for actuators, battery-powered systems, and other electrical subsystems.
-
Address supply-chain constraints, manufacturability, production ramp, and commercial launch readiness.
-
Collaborate with safety teams on electrical product certification and safety-related architecture.
-
Communicate risks and recommendations clearly, helping teams move forward through changing requirements.
What You’ll Bring
-
Significant experience developing electrical hardware for robotic or complex electromechanical products.
-
Experience leading electrical architecture and product development from early definition through verification and production.
-
Strong hands-on PCBA R&D experience, including design, testing, and manufacturing.
-
Expertise in actuator design and control, motor-control electronics, and associated firmware.
-
Experience designing power systems, including batteries, charging, and power management.
-
Understanding of how electrical hardware, firmware, controls, and mechanical systems interact.
-
Experience with Altium or comparable PCB design tools.
-
A track record of making engineering decisions using data and validating the resulting design.
-
Strong cross-functional communication, technical ownership, and follow-through.
Particularly Relevant Experience
-
Actuated mobile robotics, humanoid or legged robots, or mobile manipulation systems.
-
Regenerative power and dynamic electrical loads.
-
Electrical product safety certification.
-
Firmware development for motor control and networked embedded systems.
-
Taking hardware from prototype through manufacturing ramp and product shipment.
Why This Role
You’ll influence the electrical foundations of future robotic platforms, with ownership spanning architecture, subsystem integration, and product delivery. The work combines challenging R&D with practical engineering decisions that determine how a robot performs, scales, and operates reliably.
