Staff Hardware Technical Program Manager
About the Opportunity
A robotics company is seeking a Staff Hardware Technical Program Manager to lead cross-functional execution for its next-generation hardware platforms.
You will drive programs across the complete hardware development lifecycle—from concept and architecture through design, prototype builds, validation, production, and commercial launch. Working across engineering, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams, you will establish clear execution plans, manage dependencies, and resolve risks to deliver complex hardware products reliably.
This role offers the opportunity to shape both product delivery and the processes that support a growing hardware organization.
What You’ll Do
Lead End-to-End Hardware Programs
- Own integrated execution planning and delivery tracking from concept through volume production and general availability.
- Build and manage program schedules, critical paths, dependencies, and milestones across hardware, firmware, and software.
- Identify technical risks, long-lead component constraints, and resource gaps; drive mitigation plans and timely decisions.
Coordinate Engineering Development
- Align Product, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, and Software teams around requirements, interfaces, and delivery priorities.
- Facilitate system-level trade-offs, technical reviews, and cross-functional decisions.
- Coordinate prototype builds, hardware and firmware integration, and engineering and design validation testing.
- Track readiness against functional, performance, and quality gates.
Connect Engineering with Manufacturing
- Partner with New Product Introduction, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on component availability, tooling, supplier deliverables, and build execution.
- Ensure design for manufacturing, assembly, and test considerations are addressed early in development.
- Track bill of materials readiness, product cost targets, tooling investment, and vendor dependencies.
- Work with contract manufacturers and component suppliers to address issues affecting production readiness.
Support Commercial Launch
- Align development and production schedules with commercial milestones, service readiness, and field operations.
- Maintain program dashboards and lead operational reviews.
- Communicate progress, risks, trade-offs, and escalations clearly to executive leadership.
Build Scalable Execution Processes
- Establish and refine hardware development frameworks, gate reviews, and program governance.
- Bring structure to ambiguous environments while supporting rapid development.
- Lead post-build retrospectives and apply lessons learned to future programs.
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ years of technical program management experience leading complex hardware products across the full development lifecycle, from concept through volume production or commercial availability.
- Strong technical understanding of systems engineering, architecture, hardware, software, and testing.
- Experience working with product requirements and guiding programs through early development.
- Demonstrated success coordinating engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial stakeholders.
- Direct experience with contract manufacturers, component vendors, and long-lead hardware procurement.
- Ability to resolve competing priorities, drive decisions, and influence teams without direct reporting authority.
- Experience building practical execution processes in growing or ambiguous organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical risks and business implications to senior leadership.
Why This Opportunity
Help bring next-generation robotic hardware from early development into production and deployment. You will have broad visibility across the organization and a direct influence on how complex products are developed, manufactured, launched, and supported.
