Role Summary
We are seeking an MDM professional to support a corporate Master Data Management program. The role will work closely with the client delivery team and Global Data Owners to close outstanding master data definitions and translate business needs into implementable MDM specifications. This is a hybrid functional–technical position combining stakeholder facilitation, data governance rigor, and hands-on specification of data models, lifecycles, data quality rules, and integration requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Governance Enablement
- Facilitate working sessions with Global Data Owners and local stakeholders to finalize master data definitions (entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies, and reference data).
- Drive alignment on master data ownership (SoR/SoT), stewardship responsibilities, and lifecycle governance (create/change/block/retire).
- Produce and maintain clear documentation: business definitions, glossaries, data standards, decision logs, and sign-off packages.
- Identify and document country/local deviations vs. corporate standards (GAPs) and support impact assessment and resolution paths (adopt/extend/exception).
- Translate business requirements into MDM-ready specifications:
- Data model extensions (attributes, domains, mandatory rules, value sets)
- Lifecycle workflows and state models (triggers, approvals, SLAs, RACI)
- Data quality rules (validation, uniqueness, match/merge, survivorship)
- Reference data and code list governance (global vs. local value sets)
- Support definition of integration patterns and data contracts with connected systems (e.g., CRM/ERP/Middle Office), including publish-by-status, event triggers, and cross-reference strategy.
- Collaborate with technical teams to clarify feasibility, dependency constraints, and design trade-offs without losing functional intent.
- Support backlog creation and refinement (user stories/requirements), including acceptance criteria and traceability to business decisions.
- Participate in testing readiness: ensure definitions are testable, support UAT scenarios, and validate that outcomes align with agreed governance and data standards.
- Contribute to change management by ensuring stakeholders understand new processes, ownership, and data responsibilities.
- 5+ years in MDM and/or Data Governance roles with enterprise stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of MDM concepts: golden record, match/merge, survivorship, reference data, hierarchies, and cross-references.
- Proven ability to lead definition workshops and convert discussions into structured, implementable specifications.
- Experience working across business and IT teams, bridging functional requirements and technical constraints.
- Solid understanding of integration fundamentals (APIs/events/batch, data contracts, error handling) and the operational implications of master data distribution.
- Strong documentation skills (clear, precise, audit-friendly) and comfort with structured artifacts (data dictionaries, BPMN/state models, requirement specs).
- Experience with ERP/CRM ecosystems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, Dynamics, etc.) and related master data domains (Customer, Supplier, Product, Site/Location, Financial objects).
- Hands-on experience with an MDM platform (e.g., Informatica, Reltio, Semarchy, SAP MDG, etc.).
- Experience defining data governance operating models (roles, councils, decision rights, KPIs).
- Familiarity with data privacy implications for contact data and sensitive attributes.
