The Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Electric Powertrain Engineer to lead the development of a custom high-voltage electric propulsion system for a production vehicle platform.
This individual will play a key role in defining powertrain architecture, selecting and integrating critical components, working closely with suppliers, and helping scale the company\'s electrical engineering capabilities.
Responsibilities

Architect and deliver a safe, reliable, and production-ready electric powertrain system.

Own the integration of batteries, battery management systems, power distribution, charging systems, inverters, and electric motors.

Collaborate with external vendors and manufacturing partners on custom component development.

Provide technical leadership across electrical engineering initiatives.

Support the growth and development of the electrical engineering function while remaining hands-on with design and implementation.
Required Experience & Skills

Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

4+ years of experience designing electric powertrain systems.

Strong understanding of:

Lithium-ion battery systems

Battery Management Systems (BMS)

Power Distribution Units (PDU)

Charging infrastructure and standards
-
Inverters and electric motors
-

Knowledge of high-voltage testing, certification, and safety standards.

Strong embedded software experience using C/C++.

Experience with schematic capture, PCB design, and CAD tools.

Familiarity with communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, RS232, and J1939.

Demonstrated leadership experience combined with a hands-on engineering mindset.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred Experience

Experience working in harsh or outdoor operating environments requiring robust electrical system design.

Knowledge of environmental protection standards, isolation requirements, and reliability considerations.

Background in marine, automotive, aerospace, off-highway, or other electrified vehicle applications.
