SAP Payroll Germany Technical Lead – Freelance – Remote

We are looking for an experienced SAP Payroll Germany specialist to lead the payroll workstream on upcoming customer implementations.

Nature of role

You will take responsibility for the German payroll solution, from understanding customer requirements through configuration, testing and go-live.

This is a hands-on lead position. You will personally deliver complex payroll configuration while making the key decisions across the workstream. You will also need to understand how your solution will work in practice for the teams running payroll.

Experienced colleagues will be available for discussion, with support for some straightforward delivery tasks.

Your focus will include

• Leading the German payroll workstream on customer implementation projects.

• Delivering hands-on PY-DE configuration, including schemas and complex payroll requirements.

• Understanding customer processes and shaping solutions within the provider’s delivery standards.

• Covering related Personnel Administration, employee master data and payroll accounting requirements.

• Driving testing, troubleshooting and resolution of payroll issues.

• Working directly with customers and coordinating delivery with the wider project team.

We’re looking for

• Strong, recent hands-on SAP HCM Payroll Germany experience.

• Multiple end-to-end German payroll implementations delivered as Technical Lead, with ownership of configuration and solution decisions.

• Strong knowledge of German payroll legislation and operational payroll processes.

• The ability to work independently and take responsibility for a payroll workstream.

• An established consulting background and customer-facing implementation experience.

• German and English communication skills.

• SAP Time Management and integration experience would be beneficial.

Contract details

• Start: ASAP.

• Duration: Expected initial 6–9 months; final dates to be confirmed.

• Allocation: 80–100%.

• Working arrangement: Remote, with occasional customer workshops onsite.

• Travel: Customer-funded, with arrangements agreed in advance.

• Rate: Negotiable depending on relevant experience.
