SAP FICO Architect

I’m working on a SAP FICO Architect contract opportunity with a client in the aerospace, defense and manufacturing space.
It’s a senior, architecture-level role focused on SAP S/4HANA, with a strong emphasis on MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul).
You’d be joining a complex S/4HANA environment where you’ll have significant ownership over the FICO solution, architecture and design. They’re looking for someone who can work closely with both technical and business teams and take the lead on architectural decisions.
 
What You’ll Be Doing
The role is heavily focused on solution architecture, greenfield design and integration.
You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading the SAP FICO architecture and solution design

• Leading blueprinting and functional design workshops

• Using SAP Best Practices and adapting them to complex aerospace and defense requirements

• Designing and delivering S/4HANA greenfield solutions

• Owning end-to-end financial integration across areas such as:

• MM

• SD

• PP

• PM/CS

• Project Systems

• Making key architectural decisions and prioritizing standard SAP functionality where appropriate

• Translating complex business requirements into scalable SAP solutions

• Working closely with business leadership and stakeholders in Montreal

• Providing technical and architectural leadership across the project

• Mentoring and guiding functional and technical consultants

• Coordinating with global/offshore delivery teams

• Managing delivery quality, knowledge transfer and technical standards

• Acting as a senior authority for FICO design decisions

 
What They’re Looking For
They’re looking for someone who has genuinely operated at SAP FICO Architect / Lead Architect level, rather than someone who has only worked as a senior FICO consultant.
The key requirements are:

• Strong SAP FICO experience

• Proven SAP S/4HANA experience

• Lead / Architect-level FICO experience

• At least 1–2 full lifecycle S/4HANA greenfield implementations

• Strong solution architecture and design experience

• Strong integration experience

• MRO experience

• Aerospace, defense or complex manufacturing experience

• Experience leading workshops and working directly with business stakeholders

• Experience mentoring or leading other consultants

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

• Strong soft skills and a professional personality

• Fluent English and French — written and spoken

 
SAP Technical Experience
Strong knowledge across:

• SAP FI:

• General Ledger

• Accounts Payable

• Accounts Receivable

• Asset Accounting

• SAP CO:

• Cost Center Accounting

• Profit Center Accounting

• CO-PA

• Product Costing

• Project Systems

• Financial integration with MM, SD, PP and PM/CS

• Complex costing and billing models

• S/4HANA architecture and integration

 
Industry Experience
The MRO experience is particularly important.
They’re looking for someone who understands complex operational and financial processes within environments such as:

• Aerospace

• Defense

• Air Defense

• Aerospace manufacturing

• Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul

• Heavy manufacturing

• Aerospace repair and maintenance

Someone who has worked specifically with aerospace MRO or defense manufacturing would be highly relevant to the environment.
 
Location & Working Model

• Montreal, Canada

• Hybrid / onsite

• Approximately 3 days per week onsite

• 5 days per week working commitment

• Fluent French and English required

 
Contract & Rate

• Initial 6–12 month contract

• Strong potential for extension

 
Start Date

• ASAP

• Targeting approximately the first week of September

• The client is looking to move quickly once they identify the right candidate

 
Interview Process
The process is expected to be fairly straightforward:
