Cloud Data Engineer

We are supporting a leading international technology and consulting organisation seeking an experienced Cloud Data Engineer to deliver cloud-based data solutions for major customers across Germany.
This is a hands-on technical consulting role covering the complete project journey—from initial requirements and solution design through to development and successful implementation.
The Opportunity
You will work within an interdisciplinary cloud and data team, helping customers design and implement scalable data platforms using Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.

Your Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-based data platforms, data lakes and data warehouses.
- Build scalable data ingestion, transformation and processing pipelines.
- Develop solutions using Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or AWS Glue.
- Work with Apache Spark and/or Apache Flink for distributed data processing.
- Develop and optimise data workloads using Python, Scala and SQL.
- Work with modern data formats such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg.
- Translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Support customers from the initial idea through to production implementation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud data solutions.
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Apply modern DevOps and MLOps practices.
- Contribute to technical knowledge sharing and reusable delivery approaches.
- Support the onboarding and development of other team members.
- Gradually take ownership of technical workstreams and solution areas.

Candidates do not need to be experts across every platform. Strong hands-on experience with at least one public cloud and one major modern data platform is the priority.
Your Profile
- Several successfully delivered data projects within Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Practical experience building data lakes, data pipelines, data warehouses or cloud data platforms.
- Strong project experience with at least one of Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or AWS Glue.
- Good knowledge of Apache Spark and/or Apache Flink.
- Experience with modern data formats such as Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg.
- Strong programming and querying skills in Python, SQL and ideally Scala.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience, ideally using Terraform.
- Understanding of modern DevOps and MLOps practices.
- At least one relevant Associate-level certification within cloud data engineering, Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
- Very good German and English.
- Comfortable working directly with customers.
- Willingness to travel within Germany when required for customer projects.
