Senior Windows & Application (PLM) Engineer
Overview
A leading engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Senior Windows & Application Engineer to support and manage its on-premises PLM environment and business-critical applications.
This role sits within a small, collaborative team and plays a key part in ensuring the technical stability, performance, and continuous improvement of systems used across complex product development processes.
The Role
This is a hands-on technical position, focused on operating, maintaining, and improving application and infrastructure environments — not a strategic ownership role.
You will act as a technical advisor and integrator within the team, ensuring systems run smoothly, changes are implemented effectively, and different IT domains work together seamlessly.
A strong focus will be on a PLM system used for engineering data and documentation, alongside broader Windows-based infrastructure and application environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and support Windows Server environments and hosted applications (on-prem only)
• Maintain and technically manage the organisation’s PLM system and related applications
• Implement application changes, configurations, and new features
• Troubleshoot complex system and application issues, including root cause analysis
• Work closely with infrastructure teams (network, virtualization, security) to ensure system integration
• Support internal teams by ensuring system availability and performance
• Act as a technical interface between application and infrastructure domains
Requirements
• 5+ years’ experience in IT operations, system administration, or application management
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server
• Scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell) for automation and maintenance
• Solid understanding of application and infrastructure integration
• Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with strong troubleshooting capability
Nice to Have
• Experience with PLM systems (any platform)
• Exposure to .NET / C#
• Familiarity with CAD-related environments
• Basic Linux knowledge
• Understanding of ITIL processes
Team & Culture
• Small, close-knit team with a flat hierarchy
• Strong emphasis on collaboration and technical contribution
• Direct interaction with senior leadership
Location & Working Model
• Bremen-based role
• 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
• On-site presence encouraged for collaboration and fast problem-solving
Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
• EU or NATO citizenship required (due to security regulations)
• German: minimum B2
• Good English skills
Why Join?
• Work in a high-security, technically advanced environment
• Support systems used in complex engineering and product development
• High-impact, hands-on role within a small team
• Stable, long-term position with an immediate hiring need
