The Company

An established, owner-managed German IT services provider supporting mid-sized businesses with the modernisation, security and ongoing operation of their IT environments. The business has been established for more than 30 years and combines consulting, project delivery and managed services across Microsoft, cloud, infrastructure and IT security.

This is not a large corporate environment where consultants are restricted to one small technical area. The company places a strong emphasis on direct customer relationships, technical ownership and giving consultants the freedom to identify and implement improvements.

The Position

This is a hands-on consulting role for someone who enjoys being both a technical specialist and trusted IT advisor to mid-sized customers.

You will take responsibility for customer IT environments, understand how their infrastructure operates as a whole, identify weaknesses or opportunities for improvement, and proactively recommend solutions.

Rather than simply responding to tickets, you will work directly with customers to develop and improve their IT landscape. This means being comfortable discussing technical topics and recommendations with IT Managers, Heads of IT and Managing Directors, while remaining hands-on with implementation and troubleshooting.

Your Responsibilities

• Manage and develop IT environments for established SME/mid-market customers.

• Analyse existing infrastructure and identify technical risks, weaknesses and improvement opportunities.

• Advise customers on how their IT can become more secure, efficient and modern.

• Remain hands-on with configuration, implementation and troubleshooting.

• Take ownership of technical issues and coordinate with specialist teams when deeper expertise is required.

• Build strong relationships with customer decision-makers and proactively introduce new ideas and solutions.

• Use automation and emerging technologies, including AI, where they can improve customer environments and internal processes.

Technical Environment

Strong experience across Microsoft infrastructure is important, particularly Windows Server & Client, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP and traditional Microsoft environments.

Experience with Sophos firewalls, Veeam backup, Hornetsecurity, networking and virtualisation would be highly relevant. PowerShell and automation experience are advantageous.

What They Are Looking For

The key requirement is not certifications. They want an experienced IT professional who understands the bigger picture.

You should be technically hands-on but also capable of looking at a customer\'s complete environment and thinking: What could we improve here? What is a risk? What could be more secure or efficient?

Previous experience supporting German Mittelstand customers is particularly important, alongside confident communication with senior customer stakeholders.

The position is available in the Hannover region, and candidates need to live within the respective region.
