SAP PP Consultant – Manufacturing Strategy & Process Assessment
Overview
A leading consulting organization is seeking an experienced SAP PP Consultant to support a manufacturing strategy and process assessment engagement for a large defense-sector client on the West Coast.
This is not a traditional implementation role. The consultant will work alongside strategy and management consulting teams to assess current manufacturing and planning processes, identify gaps, evaluate SAP utilization, and provide recommendations for future-state improvements.
The engagement is currently underway and requires an experienced consultant who can quickly integrate into the team, engage with stakeholders, and provide practical recommendations based on SAP Production Planning best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current manufacturing, planning, and supply chain processes.
- Evaluate existing SAP PP processes and system utilization.
- Identify process inefficiencies, improvement opportunities, and best-practice recommendations.
- Partner with management consulting teams to align business and technology strategies.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops with business and IT teams.
- Analyze current-state operations and recommend future-state process improvements.
- Provide strategic guidance on SAP Production Planning and related manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to roadmap development and potential follow-on implementation initiatives.
- Serve as a client-facing advisor throughout the engagement.
Required Experience
- Strong SAP Production Planning (PP) expertise.
- Deep understanding of discrete manufacturing environments.
- Experience assessing and improving manufacturing planning processes.
- Working knowledge of SAP Materials Management (MM).
- Ability to evaluate whether SAP functionality is being effectively utilized and recommend improvements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Consulting experience with process assessment, strategy, or transformation initiatives.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior consulting leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or highly regulated manufacturing organizations.
- Experience participating in manufacturing transformation programs.
- Prior experience identifying follow-on opportunities and supporting roadmap development.
- West Coast–based candidates strongly preferred.
Location & Travel
- Engagement based in Northern California.
- Significant travel required (approximately 75%).
- Candidates located on the West Coast are preferred due to travel expectations.
- Initial engagement expected to last approximately 10–12 weeks, with potential extension into future phases.
