Role Overview

As an SAP Basis Consultant, you will play a key role in ensuring the security, performance, and stability of the company’s SAP environment. You will be responsible for system administration, upgrades, migrations, and daily operations across complex on-premise and cloud-based SAP landscapes. The role involves close collaboration with SAP functional teams, infrastructure teams, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Basis Administration

• Manage, monitor, and optimize SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, PO/PI, Solution Manager, SAP Router, SAP Web Dispatcher).

• Perform system copies, client refreshes, transports, and kernel upgrades.

• Execute SAP system and database upgrades, patches, and support package installations.

Performance, Security & Compliance

• Monitor and tune system performance across ABAP and Java stacks.

• Manage user administration and roles in coordination with SAP Security teams.

• Ensure compliance with German energy-sector regulations (e.g., BNetzA, ISO 27001, IT-Sicherheitskatalog).

• Support audit processes and documentation.

Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

• Manage SAP environments hosted on-premise, in hyperscale clouds (Azure/AWS), or hybrid landscapes.

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on OS, network, virtualization, and storage topics.

• Work with HANA DB administration (installations, backups, performance optimization).

Project Support

• Participate in SAP S/4HANA transformation and modernization projects.

• Support SAP landscape design, sizing, and architecture decisions.

• Coordinate with vendors (SAP, managed service providers) on issue resolution.

Incident & Problem Management

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for SAP Basis issues.

• Troubleshoot system errors, analyze logs, and implement fixes.

• Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 3–8 years of SAP Basis Administration experience (more for senior roles).

• Hands-on experience with SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, and HANA DB.

• Strong understanding of Linux OS (SUSE/Red Hat).

• Experience with transport management (CTS/CTS+), SAP Solution Manager, and system monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/GCP) and SAP Cloud Platform.

• Fluent in English; conversational to fluent German (B1–C1 depending on role).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience in the Energy/Utilities sector.

• Knowledge of SAP security concepts (authorization, SNC, encryption).

• Experience with automation (Ansible, Terraform) or scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).

• SAP Certifications (SAP Basis, HANA Technology, SAP Certified Technology Associate).
