PPDS Consultant

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced SAP PPDS Consultant to join a large-scale SAP implementation project for a biotech client. This is a new SAP PPDS implementation where the client does not currently have PPDS in place and SAP has recommended a greenfield implementation approach. The client is actively building out the project team and is looking for consultants with strong hands-on PPDS expertise and real implementation experience.

The ideal candidate will be highly specialized in SAP PPDS with strong production planning and scheduling knowledge, preferably within process manufacturing or healthcare/life sciences environments.

Project Details

• Project Type: New SAP PPDS Implementation
• Contract Length: 6 months minimum with likely extension to 12+ months
• Start Timeline: Flexible within the next 3–5 weeks
• Interview Process:
  • 1st stage interview with project leadership and team members
  • Interviews currently being scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons (CST)
• Travel:
  • Limited travel required
  • Expected during specific testing cycles only
  • Approximately 3–4 travel weeks annually
  • Potential locations include Tampa, Florida and additional sites TBD
  • Travel expenses covered
• Engagement Type: Vendor/Consulting
• Rate Budget: Targeting up to $90/hr with flexibility depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SAP PPDS implementation activities including configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare support
• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP PPDS solutions
• Design and optimize production planning and detailed scheduling processes using SAP best practices
• Configure and integrate SAP PPDS with related SAP modules including MM, SD, QM, and PP
• Support SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives related to manufacturing planning and scheduling
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, and IT teams to align planning processes with business objectives
• Troubleshoot production planning issues and support ongoing system enhancements
• Conduct system integration testing, UAT, and validation activities
• Develop functional specifications, documentation, and end-user training materials
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on milestones, risks, and deliverables

Required Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of SAP PPDS consulting experience
• Proven experience delivering full lifecycle SAP PPDS implementations
• Strong expertise in production planning, detailed scheduling, and manufacturing processes
• Hands-on SAP PPDS configuration experience
• Experience integrating PPDS with SAP modules such as MM, SD, QM, and PP
• SAP S/4HANA experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work within fast-paced implementation environments
• Candidates must demonstrate genuine hands-on implementation expertise during the interview process

Preferred Experience

• Process manufacturing or healthcare/life sciences experience preferred over discrete manufacturing
• Experience with SAP IBP is a plus, particularly:
  • Response & Supply Planning
  • Inventory Optimization
• Experience supporting global SAP transformation programs
• Strong consulting background preferred

Additional Notes

• The client is prioritizing specialists with deep PPDS implementation experience over general SAP functional consultants
• Offshore teams are already engaged, with onshore hiring currently ramping up
• Strong IBP consultants may also be considered for parallel project needs
• Industry experience is flexible if the consultant has strong functional and implementation expertise
