AI Architect
Boston, MA (Hybrid)
About the role
We’re partnering with a well-funded, high-growth robotics company building real-world automation systems deployed at scale in logistics environments. They’re looking for a Physical AI Architect to lead the design and deployment of next-generation autonomy systems on production hardware.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role for someone who combines deep expertise in modern AI approaches with a proven ability to ship robust robotic systems. You’ll act as the bridge between cutting-edge research (e.g. diffusion-based policies, optimal control) and real-world performance, ensuring systems operate reliably under demanding, high-throughput conditions.
If you’re motivated by seeing advanced AI come to life on real machines — not just in simulation or papers — this role offers a rare opportunity to define how physical AI is deployed at scale.
What you’ll do
• Own the end-to-end architecture of perception, planning, and control systems deployed on robotic platforms
• Apply modern AI techniques (including diffusion-based policy learning and optimal control) to manipulation and picking tasks
• Drive tight integration between AI models and physical systems (sensors, compute, actuators)
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for autonomy and physical AI systems
• Work cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, and software teams to ensure solutions are grounded in real-world constraints
• Identify and resolve system bottlenecks across inference, motion execution, and hardware performance
• Mentor senior engineers and help elevate technical direction across the organization
What they’re looking for
• Strong background in robotics, embodied AI, or autonomous systems
• Hands-on experience deploying AI-driven robotics systems into production
• Expertise in areas such as motion planning, control, policy learning, or robot manipulation
• Experience working across the full stack — from algorithms through to hardware integration
• Proven ability to operate as a senior technical leader while remaining hands-on
• Track record of delivering systems that perform reliably in real-world environments
Why this role
• Opportunity to define how cutting-edge AI is translated into real-world robotic behavior
• Work on systems actively deployed in production environments
• High-impact role with strong technical ownership and influence
• Competitive compensation, strong benefits, and meaningful equity
