Senior Network Systems Administrator & Team Lead – Mt. Laurel, NJ (Onsite)
Join the Tech Backbone of a Premier Sports Broadcast Environment
Do you thrive in high-stakes environments where milliseconds matter and performance drives national attention? We’re looking for a versatile, hands-on Network Systems Administrator who’s equally comfortable troubleshooting a fiber loop as they are leading a critical team during peak operations. This opportunity offers a front-row seat to behind-the-scenes technology operations supporting one of the most prominent professional sports leagues in the United States. While we can’t name names, you’ll be working at the core of real-time, high-volume data and broadcast traffic—especially when the country is watching.
This role blends technical depth with leadership, as you’ll oversee a hybrid technology stack that includes not only networking infrastructure but also server and cloud platforms. If you're used to managing both day-to-day enterprise IT and high-pressure event support environments, this is a rare opportunity to shine.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Operations Management
-
Serve as the technical lead on the 2nd shift team, overseeing incident triage, task prioritization, and real-time coordination across broadcast and IT teams.
-
Act as the escalation point for complex network events affecting real-time media transmissions, live event support, and enterprise connectivity.
Infrastructure Oversight
-
Maintain and troubleshoot a distributed mix of routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto), and server systems that power a critical infrastructure with global visibility.
-
Own the health and performance of multicast and unicast broadcast networks, fiber-optic transmission lines, and streaming video paths.
Monitoring & Incident Response
-
Use tools such as SolarWinds, DataDog, and ServiceNOW to ensure proactive performance monitoring and swift incident resolution.
-
Respond to alerts related to both traditional IT infrastructure and broadcast-specific network systems, ensuring minimal disruption during live events.
Security & Reliability
-
Implement secure network designs across both on-prem and cloud (Azure, AWS) environments, applying best practices in segmentation, encryption, and access control.
-
Contribute to business continuity planning by creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, response playbooks, and redundancy plans.
Innovation & Automation
-
Leverage scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and enable rapid response capabilities.
-
Recommend and test network improvements with an eye toward scaling for high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive applications like HD video and real-time data analytics.
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience & Skills
-
Deep experience in network operations centers or broadcast IT support roles, especially in data centers supporting live media or event-based platforms.
-
Solid grasp of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols (BGP, OSPF, Spanning Tree) and the ability to troubleshoot complex routing issues under pressure.
-
Familiarity with media transmission workflows including multicast networking, IP-based video streaming, and fiber interconnects.
-
Hands-on skills in configuring and managing enterprise-class firewalls, routers, and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, DataDog).
-
Experience using ticketing platforms such as ServiceNOW for incident management and documentation.
Preferred (But Not Mandatory) Skills
-
Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, ESXi), Linux server administration, and backup technologies like Rubrik.
-
Prior experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration tools.
-
Knowledge of performance optimization in distributed environments and use of CDNs for content delivery.
-
Experience with cloud-native networking in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Microsoft 365.
Education & Certifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
-
Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, or equivalent server/cloud credentials) are strongly preferred.
Why This Role Is Unique
You’ll be stepping into a highly visible, high-impact position that directly supports the heartbeat of a nationally televised operation. Your decisions will impact millions of viewers and the seamless execution of live events. Whether it’s preparing the infrastructure for prime-time weekend traffic or responding to real-time technical anomalies during a high-profile broadcast, you’ll be part of something bigger—something fans across the nation are counting on.
If you're energized by real-time challenges, passionate about systems that must work when it matters most, and ready to be part of a technologically elite team supporting one of the most recognized names in American sports culture, we want to hear from you.
