Chief Technology Officer
- Location San Francisco
- Expertise Robotics
- Job Type Permanent
- Salary $ 500,000 per annum
Energize Robotics is looking for a Chief Technology Officer to help define and build the technical foundation of a frontier robotics company in San Francisco.
This is a hands-on, high-agency leadership role at the intersection of AI and real-world robotics, where multi-agent coordination, reinforcement learning, and autonomous systems move from theory into physical capability. You’ll work directly with the founder to shape the R&D direction, lead internal research efforts, and help assemble an elite team focused on ambitious, civilisation-scale technical goals.
Your Required Skills
- Deep expertise in reinforcement learning, with a strong emphasis on multi-agent RL
- Demonstrated ability to lead advanced R&D (setting research direction, executing against it, and iterating quickly)
- Strong understanding of multi-agent coordination across multiple systems (virtual and/or physical)
- Proven capability to recruit, assess, and build high-calibre technical teams
- Comfort operating in an early-stage environment with evolving objectives and high ambiguity
- Strong technical judgement, clear communication, and the ability to hold strong opinions while staying open to challenge
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience bridging AI into robotics (making the “robotics meets AI” jump)
- Familiarity with Vision-Language-Action (VLA) approaches
- Exposure to or experience with LLMs in applied agentic systems
- Background in frontier robotics or related humanoid/advanced robotics ecosystems
- Experience helping build a robotic platform from scratch
Your Education and Experience
- Advanced technical education is preferred (e.g., MS/PhD or equivalent depth through research/industry)
- Prior experience in top-tier AI research or applied AI organisations (especially agentic or multi-agent systems) is strongly preferred
- Senior leadership experience guiding research teams and scaling technical organisations (company trajectory targets a growing team over the next 18 months)
Other Requirements
- Location: 100% Bay Area, on-site (with a hybrid rhythm as appropriate, but this role is anchored in-person)
- Travel: Approximately 10%
- Willingness to engage directly with real-world systems and hardware as the R&D effort expands
If you’re ready to lead multi-agent intelligence into the physical world and help set the direction for what autonomous machines can become, apply now!
