They are embarking on an exclusive, cutting-edge greenfield project that will revolutionize workforce automation!
Pay rate: $80-90 per hour
Location: Irvine, CA
Working model: Hybrid (Monday to Thursday on-site, Fridays are for remote working!)
Role: This is a 2-year contract position with the opportunity to convert to full-time based on performance and mutual agreement.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Database Management: Take charge of our PostgreSQL and MySQL databases, ensuring they operate flawlessly and securely. Regularly perform maintenance tasks, updates, and patches to maintain peak performance.
- Performance Optimization: Use your expertise to monitor, analyze, and fine-tune database performance. Implement strategies to enhance query execution and system responsiveness, creating a seamless user experience.
- Database Development: Collaborate with visionary teams to design and implement new database features, structures, and schemas. Adapt data models to accommodate the organization's evolving needs and future scalability.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Serve as the go-to expert for resolving database-related incidents promptly. Investigate and troubleshoot issues with agility to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Database Monitoring and Alerts: Establish comprehensive monitoring systems to proactively track database performance and health. Set up alerts and notifications for prompt intervention when needed.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Develop reliable backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss and ensure disaster recovery preparedness. Regularly test backup integrity to guarantee successful data restoration.
- Query Optimization: Analyze and optimize complex queries to boost overall system efficiency. Implement indexing and caching techniques to enhance query response times.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to understand database requirements and provide valuable insights. Support application teams with database-related expertise and assistance.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, schemas, and procedures. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for seamless knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Stay Updated with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest developments in database technologies and trends. Evaluate emerging tools and methodologies to enhance our database infrastructure and processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improvement within the database ecosystem. Drive initiatives to implement best practices, streamline workflows, and optimize overall database performance.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Database Engineer with expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Strong understanding of database management, performance optimization, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.
- Familiarity with query optimization techniques, indexing, and caching.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
